Andrzej Bartkowiak

Andrzej Bartkowiak is an award-winning Cinematographer and Director.  He was the cinematographer for Terms of Endearment, the winner of the Academy Award winner in 1984 for Best Picture, and for two other Best Picture Oscar nominees: The Verdict and Prizzi’s Honor

Trained at the Polish Film School in his native Lódz, Andrzej immigrated to the U.S. in 1972 and shortly after began working in commercials.  His breakthrough film was his work on the gritty urban thriller Prince of the City, his first collaboration with Sidney Lumet.  Andrzej worked on Director Sidney Lumet’s next 11 films over the next 12 years.

As cinematographer, he has also collaborated with noted film directors James L. Andrzej directed the films Romeo Must DieCradle 2 the GraveExit WoundsDoom and Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (based on the video games).  He was most recently cinematographer for Grey Lady, directed by John Shea and co-starring Jimmy Cummings.  Andrzej is slated to direct Streets of Southie in 2016.
